Tips And Tricks To Make Mukena Patterns For Beginners

Sewing Machine - this time I do not want to show tutorial sewing mukena. In accordance with the title, then this time I will provide tips and tricks how to make simple mukena pattern for adults, so this is perfect for beginners. For starters, we do need to know how to determine the pattern mukenanya, its material, the length of the fabric let me not wrong when buying materials and fabric. So before we execute the making of mukena, we can go to the fabric store first to find material for mukena.

Materials Making Mukena

Some time yesterday in addition to many who ask about how to make mukena, there is also a question about the material make mukena. So I will explain here, before we learn how to make mukena pattern.

Actually there is no standard rules what materials should be used to make mukena. As long as the fabric is comfortable to wear and not too transparent, then it is fine to use as a material to make mukena. And in addition to the diverse designs, there are also very diverse exotic types of mukena materials sold in Muslim clothing stores shop.

Types of materials commonly used to make mukena are:

  • Cotton /
  • Japanese Cotton,
  • Silk /
  • Semi silk,
  • Rayon (mukena bali material),
  • Parachute materials,

Even now there are also mukena made from stretch like jersey. In addition there are also manufacturers who make mukena made from chiffon, but of course use a layered material so as not to wander. Like clothing materials, mukena materials commonly used are cotton. Because in addition to comfortable to use because the material is cold, cotton cloth also has a standard thickness and also not slippery when worn.

Then Need cloth how many meters to make mukena?

The standard size of the materials needed to make 1 set of adult mukena are:
- Material top, minimum 2.15 - 2.25 meters.
- Subordinate materials, at least 1.5 - 1.6 meters.
- Material chin and rope, using the remaining pieces of the boss pattern.

* So the total length of fabric = minimum 3.75 - 4 meters (with width 115cm or 120cm fabric).

Why do I give a minimum of information? Because the size can be added as needed. For example, want to make a longer mukena top, 1 set of mukena plus bag, mukena Extra size (wider mukena or longer mukena top), mukena tops use pet, or to make mukena remple ( ruffle ), then it should be added longer the fabric as needed.

How to Measure Mukena Patterns

To make mukena, you can also use two different fabric motifs for each boss and subordinate mukena. Just stay adjusted to the size as I mentioned above. Since this is a simple mukena pattern and is devoted to beginners, then the following pattern does not use a layer of cloth on the head.

The picture pattern below uses a cloth with a width of 120cm. Keep using the same size (on the other side of the width of the fabric), if using a cloth with a width of 115cm. After the fabric is split into two into the material for superiors and subordinates, then fold each material into two parts as shown below.

Note:
* The pattern above is the usual pattern I use to make mukena and I think comfortable to wear, said my wife comfortable to wear, has included the excess fabric for the distance and ± 1 to 1.5 cm.

* The pattern above using materials approximately 3.75 meters, namely:
± 2.13 meters for boss (106,5cm x 2), chin and head strap.
± 1.53 meters for subordinates, (76.5cm x 2).

* For adult mukena, the length of the front mucena (A - B) is at least 105cm.

* The length of the rear mucena (AC) should be at least 10-15cm long from the front mukena length (AB) <== applicable to all mukena size variations
Prepare the pattern of the mukena top that has been folded into two. Embed some pin needles so that the fabric is not easily shifted. Create a curved line (like ¼ circle) following a red dashed line (XY) like the pattern above using a pencil / lime sewing. If it is deemed the curvature is fitting, then cut the cloth to follow the curvature lines that have been made.

Why does the curvature of CX or BY should be a distance of approximately 40 cm? Well because when mukena worn, this XY part is in our hands. So its function for the XY section has a size longer than the length of the front mukena. Its function is to avoid the part of our hands (especially fingers) so as not to be seen while being at the side of the body. So the shorter the distance between CX and BY, the shorter the length of the mukena on the part of our hands when the mukena is used.

Then the remaining pieces of material tops mukena earlier, can be used to create patterns of chin and head strap. The pattern above is a pattern that I used to make mukena and I think comfortable to wear. The above pattern is included with the excess fabric for 1cm weld width, so the rope pattern is to make the mukena shape with elastic (rubber) straps 1.5cm wide. And requires a distance of about 2cm for the waistband, and 1.5cm for the seam (to smooth the edges of the fabric) so that after the long-tailed A - B (front mukena length) to 105cm. And when done stitching, then the result will look like below.
